Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has returned home from Kolkata on Friday night, wrapping up her short visit to Kolkata to inaugurate the historic day-night Test match between Bangladesh and India.
A special flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines carrying the Prime Minister and her entourage landed at Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) at 12:00am (BST).
Earlier, the flight departed Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport in the West Bengal’s capital at 11:00pm (Indian time) on Friday, reports UNB.
Kolkata mayor and Urban Development and Municipal Affairs Minister of West Bengal Firhad Hakim, Bangladesh High Commissioner to India Syed Muazzem Ali, Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Riva Ganguly Das and President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Sourav Ganguly saw her off at the airport.
During her visit to Kolkata, Sheikh Hasina along with Chief Minister of West Bengal Mamata Banerjee rang the ceremonial bell for the opening of the second match of the two-match Test series between Bangladesh and India at the Eden Gardens.
The PM watched the first session of the ever-first day-night Test match for both Bangladesh and India, which is being played with pink ball from November 22 to 26.
After the first day's match, she attended a small cultural programme followed by a felicitation programme arranged by the Cricket Association of Bengal at the Eden Gardens.
Sheikh Hasina went to Kolkata on Friday morning to join the opening ceremony of the Test match at the invitation of her Indian counterpart Narendra Modi and President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Sourav Ganguly.
During her visit to Kolkata, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was treated as a State guest of the central government of India.
