Rumours have surfaced at different parts of the country including Dhaka that the price of salt may leap over Tk 100 per kg.
People were seen thronging Segunbagicha kitchen market, Karwan Bazar, Kaptan Bazar and other retail markets to buy and stock salt following the rumour, an FE correspondent has found.
Meanwhile, the government on Tuesday urged all not to get confused with misleading information over salt stock and price, being spread by an unscrupulous group.
The current salt reserve is much more than the country needs, it added.
