President M Abdul Hamid has asked the Bangladesh Competition Commission (BCC) to be more active to prevent unhealthy competition in market to expand commerce and investment.

"Such move will help control price hike, monopoly and conspiratorial deals in business," he observed.

The head of the state came up with the statement when a BCC delegation called on him to submit its Annual Report for the year 2018-19 at Bangabhaban in Dhaka on Monday.

“During the meeting, the President was apprised of the overall activities of the commission by the competition commission,” President’s Press Secretary M Joynal Abedin told reporters after the meeting.

President Hamid also advised the concerned officials to create mass awareness among the investors, businessmen and people in this connection.

Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi led the delegation.

BCC Chairman Md Mofizul Islam, Commerce Secretary Md Jafar Uddin, President’s Secretary Sampad Barua and Military Secretary Major General SM Shamim-Uz-Zaman were present at the meeting.
