President Abdul Hamid on Sunday visited the progress of construction works of 'Mithamain Cantonment’ in Kishoreganj.
On his arrival at the cantonment area in Mithamain upazila, Chief of Army Staff General S M Shafiuddin Ahmed welcomed the head of the state, reports BSS.
Local lawmaker Rezwan Ahmmad Taufiq, secretaries concerned to Bangabhaban and local administration officials were also present.
The cantonment is being constructed at 275-acre of land.
Later, President Abdul Hamid took part in a milad and doa mahfil held at Mithamin after Asr prayers on the occasion of the death anniversary of his father late Haji Md Tayeb Uddin.
Special prayers were offered for the eternal peace of the departed soul of late Haji Md Tayeb Uddin.
Besides, special prayers were also offered for the welfare of the country. People from all strata joined the doa-mahfil.
The president arrived here on Friday last on a seven-day visit to oversee some ongoing development projects in his own district and exchange views with local representatives.
The head of state is scheduled to return to Dhaka on November 18.
