President M Abdul Hamid Thursday sought support of international community, different agencies and states including the United Kingdom, to help resolve the Rohingya issue.
"Though Bangladesh is a very small country, on the humanitarian ground it has given sheltered Rohingyas who were the worst victims of atrocities by their Myanmar security forces," he said.
The President said while talking to a nine-member delegation of Conservative Friends of Bangladesh (CFoB) at Bangabhaban.
President's Press Secretary M Joynal Abedin briefed reporters after the meeting saying Hamid expressed deep gratitude to the British government for raising strong voice against the oppression on the Muslim minority at Myanmar's Rakhine state.
The nine-member CFoB delegation led by Anne Main, MP, lauded different pragmatic steps taken by the Bangladesh government on Rohingya issue as they earlier visited the Cox's Bazar frontier in Bangladesh territory and different Rohingya camps there.
They said the CEoB, which work as bridge between Bangladesh and the UK government and people of the two countries, would continue its support for the different development activities between the two countries.
Other members of the delegation include Paul Scully, MP, Will Quince, MP, former MP David Mackintosh and CFoB Chairman Mehfuz Ahmed.
