The Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources (MPEMR) will increase the number of internship for students to 500 soon.
"We hope, shortly we will be able to raise the internship to 500," State Minister for Power and Energy Nasrul Hamid said while addressing an orientation and certificate giving ceremony for internees at Biduyt Bhaban in the city on Monday.
The MPEMR and Centre for Research and Information (CRI) jointly organised the function to welcome the new internees and distribute certificates to those completed internship at different organisations under the ministry.
It was informed in the function that the ministry provided internship to 100 students last year while 165 students received the opportunity in the current year.
Nasrul Hamid said he believes his ministry-sponsored internship will play an effective role for the students to adopt themselves in their professional life.
It will create efficient workforce in the country's power and energy sector as well, he said.
He said it's essential to turn the young force into an efficient workforce to get the advantage of demographic dividend of our nation.
The function was also addressed by power secretary Dr Ahmad Kaikaus, Power Development Board (PDB) chairman Khaled Mahmood and Power Cell Director General Mohammad Hossain, reports UNB.
