A special court in Dhaka on Sunday again extended until May 10 the bail of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia in Zia Charitable Trust graft case.

Judge Md Akhteruzzaman of Special Judge Court-5 passed the order as the BNP chief was not produced before the court from jail over health issues.

The court also fixed May 10 for the next hearing on the case, reports UNB.

Earlier on April 5, the court extended the bail of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia in the Zia Charitable Trust graft case until April 22.

On March 28, the same court extended until April 5 the bail of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia in the graft case.

On March 13, the court had ordered the jail authorities to produce Khaleda Zia before it on March 28 and 29 for hearing.

On August 8, 2011, the Anti-Corruption Commission filed the Zia Charitable Trust graft case with Tejgaon Police Station accusing four people, including Khaleda Zia, of abusing power in raising funds for the trust from unknown sources.

The same court on February 8 last convicted the former prime minister and BNP chairperson and sentenced her to five years' imprisonment in the Zia Orphanage Trust graft case.
