A Dhaka court on Sunday transferred a case against BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia lodged for making derogatory remarks about Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the present government, reports BSS.
Dhaka metropolitan magistrate Ziaur Rahman passed the order as the case is ready to start the proceedings, a court official said.
The court on March 20 issued warrant of arrest against BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia as Jananetri Parishad president AB Siddiqui filed the case against her on January 25, 2017, for making alleged derogatory remarks at a rally at capital’s Engineering Institute on December 31, 2016.
After recording statement of the plaintiff, the court had asked the Shahbagh Police Station authorities to submit a report in this regard.
“The court had issued arrest warrant against the BNP chief and she has secured bail in the case from High Court. As the case is all set to start the trial proceedings, the court has transferred the case. Now any metropolitan magistrate court can hold hearing of the case,” court official Rakibul Hasan told BSS.
