A Sylhet court on Tuesday sent a local BNP leader to jail after rejecting his bail plea in a case filed over creating hindrance to police.
The leader is BNP city unit general secretary Ali Ahmed.
Judge Mofizul Islam Bhuiyan of Sylhet Metropolitan and Sessional Court handed down the verdict in the noon.
Earlier on July 21, a group of BNP leaders and activists gathered in front of the office of Sylhet Metropolitan Police (South) in the city and created hindrance to police activities demanding release of their two activists.
Later, police filed a case with Osmaninagar Police Station in this connection, reports UNB.
