The Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) in Sylhet has announced the dismissal of its district committee after allegations that several activists were involved in the murder of BCL activist Omor Miad.
The media was told of the decision in notice signed by BCL President Saifur Rahman Shohag and General Secretary SM Zakir Hossein on Wednesday night, reports bdnews24.com.
Omor Miad, 22, was stabbed to death in the district town’s Tilagor area on Monday evening.
The victim’s father filed a case over the murder accusing Sylhet BCL General Secretary Raihan Chowdhury, BCL activist Tofail Ahmed and his brother Fakhrul Islam, ten others, and five unidentified persons.
“The dismissal of the branch committee was decided at an emergency meeting of the Bangladesh Chhatra League’s central committee,” the notice said.
The notice also requested resumes for the formation of a new committee. The curriculum vitae must be submitted to the Sylhet district BCL acting leaders by Oct 25.
Police have detained BCL activist Tofail and his brother Fakhrul Islam over the case.
