A case has been filed against 85 people after an arson attack on an election campaign office of grand alliance candidate for Sunamganj-1 constituency in Jamalganj upazila.
Local Awami League leader Md Shukkur, also a union parishad member, filed the case with Jamalganj Police Station in the early hours of Tuesday accusing 35 named and 50 unnamed people, said Md Abul Hasem, officer-in-charge of the police station.
Meanwhile, police arrested BNP leader Julfikar Rana in connection with the attack, reports UNB.
Miscreants torched the election campaign office of the grand alliance candidate Engineer Moazzem Hossain Ratan at Lalpur village in Sadar union of the upazila on Monday night.
Several similar attacks have been seen in many parts of the country during the ongoing week ahead of elections.
