‘Student to Start-Up’ chapter-2 to kick off Sunday

The 2nd chapter of ‘Student to Start-Up’ competition for students will kick off on Sunday to find out young entrepreneurs having innovative ideas as they can contribute to the country’s development.

State Minister for ICT Division Zunaid Ahmed Palak will attend the launching ceremony as the chief guest at ICT tower at Agargaon, reports BSS quoting a press release.

Leading youth platform ‘Young Bangla’ and Innovation Design and Entrepreneurship Academy (IDEA) project under the ICT Division will arrange the competition.

This time, students of the school and college will also be able to participate in the competition along with university students.

On 15 March, 2018, iDEA project with the flag of “Startup Bangladesh” and the leading youth platform ‘Young Bangla’ under “Centre for Research and Information (CRI)” have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to collaborate each other in order to foster innovation ecosystem and entrepreneurship culture in Bangladesh.

The first chapter of ‘Student to Startup’ was organized in May this year. The First Chapter of the “Students to Startup” program was successfully ended in March 2019 where the top 120 startups from 40 university campaigns were selected for two days training program on special topics on Entrepreneurship, Innovation & Startups.

Later, top 30 teams were selected through primary pitching among them to face the official ‘Selection Committee’ of iDEA project. Finally, Top 10 startups were selected for pre-seed grant of amount Taka 1 million each while other 20 teams were sent to grooming session.

This time, the winner of the 2nd chapter will also be awarded grant of Taka 1 million to the top 10 winning startups and 20 more startups will also be selected for grooming to make them matured. After completion of grooming, if the startup meets the targeted improvement then the matured startups will also be awarded grant.

There are about 25 places have been selected as venues for ‘Student to Startup: Chapter- 2’ across the country.

Any Bangladeshi student will be able to register with their invention in the contest. There is a condition for participants under the age of 18 is that at least one member of the team must 18 years old or older.
