Shovon, Rabbani removed from BCL amid controversies

Amid various controversies, Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) President Rezwanul Haque Chowdhury Shovon and General Secretary Golam Rabbani were removed from their respective posts.

The Awami League's Central Working Committee took the decision in a meeting chaired by AL chief Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at the Ganabhaban on Saturday night, report bdnews24.com and UNB.

While briefing reporters after the meeting, Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader said they were asked to step down.

He, however, said the present committee will remain in force and No 1 vice-president Al Nahean Khan Joy and No 1 joint secretary Lekhak Bhattacharjee were given the charge of BCL president and general secretary respectively.

Quader also said the national council of the ruling party will be held on December 20-21 next.
