Awami League General Secretary and Road, Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader on Saturday said it has been proved through the verdict of the August 21 grenade attack case that BNP is a terrorist party.
“BNP is a terrorist t party . . . It has no principle, it has become unrestrained,” he said while inaugurating a road that connects Dhaka-Chittagong highway at Kanchpur of Sonargaon in Narayanganj.
The AL general secretary said BNP talked about political ideology and principles but joined the killers and terrorists.
Referring to the February 25 Pilkhana carnage in 2009, he said a team of BNP helped the assailants to flee the scene immediately after the massacre that left 74 people dead, including 57 army officers.
He said BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia remained untraced for 24 hours from 7:30am on February 25 in 2009 during the brutal incident.
“BNP is now a frustrated party, fully detached from people … it is more reckless than vehicles,” he said.
Criticizing the remark of BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on the Pilkhana tragedy, Quader called upon him to maintain political decorum in their speeches.
The minister also urged BNP to withdraw sensitive remarks on the army chief.
Concerned officials of the ministry and local administration accompanied the minister.
