Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader has said that there is no need to form the school committee of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL).
He said this while speaking at a function of the BCL held at Bangla Academy in the city on Saturday.
This is not the proper time for drawing criticism, Quader, also the road transport and bridges minister, said.
The student wing of the ruling party arranged the function in observance of the Victory Day 2017.
Quader said that the students should concentrate on the studies other than the politics. It will be a burden for the students if the politics comes in the school level. The students of colleges and universities can be involved in politics, he added.
He also advised the BCL members to be alert about the indiscipline so that the party is not criticized for their activities.
With a view to spreading the ideologies of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman among the students, the pro-Awami League student body in November asked all its organisational units to set up committees at secondary schools in their respective areas.
About the Rangpur city polls, he said that the Awami League is still now popular in Rangpur although the party loses the mayor post in that city.
