Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader on Tuesday said BNP's participation in upazila election would matter little.
"It doesn't matter who takes part or boycotts the local election," he told reporters at the Secretariat, reports UNB.
"BNP's boycott of the upazila polls won't have much effect. But we have heard that many BNP leaders will take part in the election as independent candidate," he said.
Talking about the participation of BNP's student front in Ducsu election, Quader said: "It doesn't appear that they will contest Ducsu polls. Actually, the Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal will work as per the directives of Tarique Zia."
About BNP's fear that Ducsu polls will be one-sided, Quader said: "It's incorrect. There's no scope for rigging or occupying centres."
