Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader on Sunday ruled out any possibilities of holding dialogues with the political parties over the next general elections.
“There is no scope and even no possibilities of holding dialogues centring the next parliament polls. But I think it is good to maintain communications with all parties… Many problems could be solved if good relations exist among the politicians,” he said at a press conference at his secretariat office in the city.
About a recent speech of BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on dialogue, Quader said, “If he gives any condition, I’m not ready to call him. It is not a political language.”
Expressing his hope to win in polls to three city corporations – Rajshahi, Sylhet and Barishal, he said, “The polls will be held peacefully. I’m optimistic of winning in the three city polls.”
Regarding the expansion of the grand alliance, Quader said, “Our alliance might be broadened…There are many pro-liberation political parties who want to join us. There are also many parties who want to take part in the polls by forming separate alliances.”
