Quader rules out BNP role for polls-time govt

Ruling Awami League will not invite BNP to join the election-time government as they have no representation in parliament.

Party's General Secretary Obaidul Quader came up with the statement after inaugurating construction work on the Kurigram-Rajarhat-Teesta road on Thursday.

Responding to another query, the Road Transport and Bridges Minister said Bangladesh Chhatra League is not the source of power of Awami League; rather Jatiytabadi Chhatra Dal had been the source of all power of BNP.

"Khaleda Zia used to openly say Chhatra Dal is enough to face Awami League. But we'll never use BCL to tackle BNP," he said.

Obaidul Quader also said BCL will be reorganised within the next three months following directives from the Prime Minister.

"Its new council will be held in March," he said.

According to UNB, the ruling party leader said if any BCL man gets involved in any wrongdoing, he will be punished for that.
