Quader for stern action over nomination infighting

Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader has said that punitive action would be taken against any party man involved in nomination infighting centering the election to the Dhaka South City Corporation.

‘’Disciplinary action would be taken against those who would be found responsible for infighting over party nominations, he said while speaking at a winter-clothes distribution programme on Bangabandhu Avenue's Awami League Central Office premises.

Terming AL as a big political party, the AL general secretary said that there might have some usual problems within such a big party. "But we are united under the leadership of Awami League President Sheikh Hasina, also the prime minister," he continued.

He said the Awami League President intervenes in case of failure of solving any major problem over intra-party feud in the Awami League.

"There was no instance that a wrongdoer went unpunished in the party. We are taking administrative and organizational action in this regard," Quader, also the road transport and bridges minister, said.

Referring to upcoming DSCC election for mayoral post, AL nomination board will finalize its candidate after the meeting, which will be presided over by the party President, reports BSS.

Quader was very critical of BNP candidature for the DSCC mayoral post and said, "There is no democratic practice in the BNP. . . . Father (Abdul Awal Mintoo) has announced his son's name (Tabith Mohammed Awal) as a mayoral candidate. Tabith's name appeared in Paradise Papaers"

Dhaka city unit of AL President Abul Hasnat presided over the programme while AL relief and social welfare secretary Sujit Roy Nandi, Dhaka city south unit general secretary Shahe Alam Murad, vice-president Nurul Amin Ruhul, organizing secretaries - Hedayetul Islam Swapon, Golam Ashraf Talukdar and Kazi Morshed Kamal, and publicity and publication secretary M Akhter Hossain, among others, spoke there.
