Police detained BNP's Vice Chairman Abdullah Al Noman from Gazipur on Sunday afternoon.
Before the arrest, the BNP leader and former minister attended a press conference.
Gazipur City Corporation BNP mayoral candidate Hassan Uddin Sarkar called the press conference in front of his house following a high court order that stayed the GCC elections for six months.
Noman's personal secretary Nurul Azim Hiru said police detained the BNP leader from his car soon after he had left the press conference,
“Police detained him in the Tongi municipal area soon after he had left the press conference as Hassan Sarkar’s house,” Hiru said.
According to bdnews24.com, police have yet to make a comment on the alleged detention.
