Jatiya Party Chairman HM Ershad on Thursday said people will elect his party in the next election as it has no stigma.
By electing his party, they will get rid of Awami League and BNP, he added, reports UNB.
"People now don't want Awami League and BNP to come to power. They want to see Jatiya Party in power as they know it'll be able to ensure good governance," he said.
Ershad, also a former military ruler, claimed, "People have confidence in Jatiya Party as our hands are not stained with blood. We didn't kill people to cling to power. We don't have any stigma."
He came up with the remarks while speaking at a daylong startup workshop for Jatiya Party leaders who are active on social media at Gulshan's Spectra Convention Centre.
Ershad said there is no alternative to the Jatiya Party to build a fear- and hunger-free Bangladesh.
He bemoaned that people are now in a bad position as they have no security of their lives amid the rise in the incidents of killing, enforced disappearance and road accidents.
"All are least bothered about how many people were killed and made disappeared. Nobody cares about the tears of people who lost their loved ones," Ershad regretted.
He said people want to overcome such a situation. "We'll free people from it through winning the election. We'll ensure an atmosphere where people will be able to sleep in peace."
