Jatiya Oikyafront, led by Dr Kamal Hossain, wants to hold a rally at Suhrawardy Udyan in the city on December 10 ahead of the 11th parliamentary elections.
On behalf of the Oikyafront, BNP senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi announced the plan at a press conference at the party's Nayapaltan central office on Thursday.
"Jatiya Oikyafront will arrange a rally at Suhrawardy Udyan in the capital on December 10 (Monday)," he said.
Rizvi said the rally, scheduled to begin at 2pm, will be addressed by senior leaders of the Oikyafront.
He said they have already sent separate letters to Suhrawardy Udyan authorities and Dhaka Metropolitan Police seeking permission to hold the rally.
On November 6 last, Oikyafront held a rally at Suhrawardy Udyan in the capital to drum up public support in favour of the alliance's various demands, reports UNB.
On October 13, BNP together with Dr Kama Hossain-led Jatiya Oikya Prokriya, JSD and Nagorik Oikya launched the Jatiy Oikyafront to press for their seven-point demand. Later, Abdul Kader Siddiqui-led Krishak Sramik Janata League joined the alliance.
