Miscreants hurl crude bomb at Rajshahi BNP rally, five hurt

At least five people including a journalist were injured in a crude bomb attack at an election rally of BNP candidate of Rajshahi City Corporation election in Sagorpara area on Tuesday morning.

The injured were identified as Paritosh Chowdhury Aditya, a reporter of private TV channel Banglavision, local shop owner Swapan Kumar Das and three BNP activists Habibur Rahman, Khokon and Kalu.

Witnesses said Ruhul Kuddus Talukder Dulu, organising secretary of BNP central committee, inaugurated the rally arranged by the district unit of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal as part of the election campaign of BNP mayoral aspirant Mosaddek Hossain Bulbul.

Several masked miscreants riding on a motorcycle hurled three crude bombs on the rally, leaving them injured.

The injured were admitted to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital, says a UNB report.

Being informed, police visited the spot, said Aman Ullah, Officer-in-Charge of Boalia Police Station.

Later, BNP leaders and activists staged a demonstration protesting the gruesome attack on their rally.
