Planning Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal Tuesday in Dhaka hinted that Bangladesh’s one-day national cricket team skipper Mashrafe Bin Mortaza and the test and T20 captain Shakib Al Hasan could contest in the upcoming national poll.
He said it to journalists after the weekly Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) meeting on Tuesday.
Kamal said Mashrafe Bin Mortaza could be the candidate for the next national poll.
“It is sure that Mashrafe will vie for the election in the future. He is a good man. Please cast vote for him and pray for him,” Mr Kamal said.
When asked –whether Shakib can vie in the election from Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP)—the minister said please support him even he contests for BNP.
Answering to another question, the Planning Minister said, cricketer Shakib Al Hasan has become enough matured for election. “He could also go for election.”
Magura is the district town of Bangladeshi cricketer Sakib Al Hasan while neighbouring district Narail is of the cricketer Mashrafe.
The Minister, however, did not clarify on their political affiliation under which they will go for election.
