Land Minister Shamsur Rahman Sherif’s son Shirhan Sherif Tomal has been expelled from Jubo League.
Action against Tomal, who is also the Ishwardi upazila Jubo League president, was taken following the attack on journalists in Rooppur on November 29.
The central committee of Jubo League took the action against him Wednesday night for breaching the organisation discipline and his involvement in terrorist activities, said Abu Mohammad Nasim Pavel, Jubo League organising secretary for Rajshahi division.
On November 29, Tomal and his accomplices allegedly beat four journalists while they were on duty in Rooppur. Later, a case was filed against Tomal in this connection.
Fifteen days after the incident, he surrendered before a court here on Wednesday, seeking bail in the case.
According to UNB, the court sent him to jail rejecting bail petition.
