Khaleda needs release from jail for better treatment: Moudud

BNP leader Moudud Ahmed has said he has no confidence over the government-provided treatment to Khaleda Zia.

He demanded Khaleda's immediate release so that she could receive better treatment, reports bdnews24.com.

The standing committee member of BNP expressed his concerns while talking to reporters during the BNP chairperson’s medical tests at the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) on Saturday morning.

“We do not know why she has been brought here. We were not informed of it before,” said Moudud.

“The medical board formed by the government has clarified that Begum Zia is sick, something we had said for a long time,” he said.

He described the medical board as a ruse of the government, adding that the BNP has no confidence in medical treatment provided by the ruling party.

“She has been kept in an abandoned and secluded jail where she is bound to fall ill. We want her to be freed so she can receive treatment by her personal doctors,” said Moudud.

The former law minister also complained of a government ‘conspiracy’ behind the issue of Khaleda Zia’s bail.

The ruling party has denied any role in Khaleda’s legal circumstances.
