Jatiya Party Chairman HM Ershad on Thursday said the dialogue between Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina-led 14-party alliance and Dr Kamal Hossain-led Jatiya Oikyafront over the next general election are unlikely to be fruitful.
"The demands of Jatiya Oikyafront cannot be accepted as per the constitution," he said while talking to reporters at Parjatan Motel in Dhaka, reports UNB.
The former military ruler said they (Jatiya Oikyafront) are demanding the resignation of the Prime Minister but she will not resign.
But, he said, Jatiya Party wants an inclusive election with the participation of all political parties.
"BNP may not join the polls as it's now a party without leadership. Khaleda Zia is in jail while Tarique Zia staying abroad. Dr Kamal can't lead BNP, I guess," he added.
Talking about Electric Voting Machine (EVM), Ershad said, "EVM is not a tested method yet, we don't support EVM use in the election."
