LGRD and Cooperatives Minister Engineer Khandker Mosharraf Hossain urged the people not to cast their vote for BNP in next polls.
“The party chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia became champion for five times in corruption during her regime, the minister alleged.”
“Begum Zia tarnished the image of Bangladesh committing random corruption, he said "She (Khaleda) used to speak as a Pakistani during her tenure. So, people should not cast vote in favour of such corrupt and guilty lady, he said.
He said this while addressing a function organised for providing financial assistance to educational institutions, Mosques, temples and cultural organizations at Kobi Jasim Uddin hall of the town on Friday.
The function was jointly organized by district administration, Zila Parishad and Sadar Upazila Parishad.
The minister provided financial assistance to some 200 poor families, 74 religious institutions and 13 cultural organizations on the occasion.
Mosharraf hoped that Bangladesh would be turned into middle income country by 2021 under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, adding the present government has taken up various development programs to take the country forward.
He urged the countrymen to cast their vote again for Awami League in the upcoming general election to continue the development works in the country.
The minister said the government has introduced different pro-people schemes, including Ashrayan Project, Ekti Bari Ekti Khamar, for social safety net, adding the marginal people of the country have got a benefit of such humanitarian schemes.
Presided over by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ommey Salma Tanzia, Superintendent of Police (in charge) Jamal Pasha, Sadar Upazila Chairman Khandkar Mohtesham Hossain Babor, President of District AL advocate Subol Chandra Saha addressed the function, according to a BSS report.
Zila Parishad Chairman Lokman Hossain Mridah, Kotwali AL President Abdur Razzak Molla,Town Awami League President Nazmul Islam Khandakar Levi, Jubo Legue convener of the district AHM Foad attended, among others, the function.
