The opposition Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) student body Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) has entered the Madhur Canteen of Dhaka University after nine years.
The central leaders and activist of JCD entered the canteen at around 10:30am today (Wednesday) and the ruling Awami League student wing Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), DU unit, welcomed them cordially.
The JCD leaders passed time with BCL leaders while huge number of BCL men was chanting slogan in favour of BCL.
JCD is scheduled to hold a press conference regarding Dhaka University Central Student Union (DUCSU) election set for March 11 at the university premises.
Earlier, the JCD leaders went to campus on February 7 to meet DU vice-chancellor and hand over a memorandum for bringing political co-existence and fair environment to hold DUCSU election.
It was February 2010 when JCD last entered Madhur Canteen, hub for DU politics, and remained ousted by the BCL since then.
