A court in Chandpur has sent BNP leader ANM Ehsanul Haque Milon to jail in three separate cases.
The three cases were filed against the former state minister for education with Kachua police station on charge of extortion and theft, reports UNB.
Chandpur Judicial Magistrate Judge Mohammad Shafiul Azam sent him to jail on Friday when police produced him before the court.
Earlier, detectives in a drive arrested Milon from a house at Chwakbazar area in Chttogram city early Friday.
Mizanur Rahman, additional superintendent of Chandpur police, said a team of DB and Chandpur thana police conducted a joint drive at the residence of Shah Alam 'Mamtaz Chayanir' at Chatteshwari Road around 4:30 am and arrested Milon, international affairs secretary of BNP.
Milon had been staying at his friend Shah Alam's house for the last few days, said Mohammad Mamun, officer-in-charge of Chandpur DB police.
Police also arrested the house owner. Milon was wanted in 26 cases, he said.
Later, Chandpur police took him to Chandpur and produced him before the court in the afternoon.
