Golam Mostafa, MP of Gaibandha-1 constituency, was injured seriously in a road accident in Natiapara area on Dhaka-Tangail Highway in Delduar upazila on Saturday evening.
Officer-in-charge of Mirzapur Police Station Mizanul Haque said MP Golam Mostafa, along with his two associates, was travelling to Dhaka riding on a microbus in the evening, reports UNB.
When the vehicle reached Natiapara, it collided with a North Bengal-bound bus, leaving the MP and his two associates -- Shahjahan and Manjur - injured.
The injured were first taken to Mirzapur Upazila Health Complex and later shifted to Tangail General Hospital.
MP Mostafa was referred to Dhaka as his condition was deteriorating, said superintendent of police of Tangail district Mahbub Alam adding that the ambulance carrying the MP left Tangail General Hospital for the capital around 7:30 pm.
Supervisor of Tangail General Hospital Dr Sayed Ibn Sayeed said the condition of the MP was very critical.
"He (Golam Mostafa) received injuries in several parts of his body including the head," added Dr Sayeed.
