A local leader of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), who was shot and stabbed Sunday evening allegedly by his rivals at Pakshi Rooppur intersection in Pabna’s Ishwardi upazila, has died at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital Monday morning.
Officer-in-Charge of Ishwardi Police Station Azim Uddin said quoting the family members that some rivals opened fire on Sadrul Alam Pintu (28), president of Pakshi union BCL, around 7:30pm and then stabbed him brutally.
Pintu was first taken to Ishwardi upazila health complex in critically injured condition and later sent to the RMCH following deterioration of his condition, reports UNB citing the OC.
However, he succumbed to his injuries at the hospital around 6am today.
Locals said Pintu had long been at loggerheads with BCL activist Saurav Hossain Tuntuni as he severed Tuntuni’s one hand earlier.
They alleged that the killing might have taken place over previous enmity.
