Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader on Wednesday said a public and welfare-oriented budget will be placed in parliament on Thursday, giving highest priority to saving the lives and livelihood of the people.
The new budget will be formulated after taking opinions, advice from economists, other concerns and coordinating with the manifestation of the party, the road transport and bridges minister said at a video conference from his residence, on the occasion of the signing ceremony of Northern route of Mass Rapid Transit (MRT), reports UNB.
The Prime Minister has taken her decision after talking with the officials concerned of the government and the party men, he said.
Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal is expected to place the national budget for 2020-2021 fiscal in parliament on June 11.
Quader said some 4,650 metres of the Padma Bridge will be visible after the installation of 31st span on Wednesday.
“The construction work of the multi-purpose bridge, the highest priority project of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, is going on after maintaining health guidelines,” he said
Talking about the BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul’s remark about the budget, the minister said the statement “is nothing but the absence of truth”.
