BNP on Monday provided financial support to the families of two Jubo Dal workers, who were shot dead by last month reportedly the police in BNP’s political programmes in Munshiganj and Narayanganj.
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir handed over the party’s cash assistance to the families of Shahidul Islam Shaon of Munshiganj and Shaon Pradhan of Narayanganj at the party Chairperson’s Gulshan office, reports UNB.
Speaking at the programme, Fakhrul assured that their party will stand by the family members of those who are sacrificing their lives in the ongoing movement for the sake of democracy and people’s voting rights.
Jubo Dal activist Shahidul Islam Shaon was gunned down allegedly by police in Munshiganj on September 21 during a party’s programme protesting the increase in the price of fuel oil and daily necessities.
Earlier on September 1, Shaon Pradhan, another Jubo Dal activist of Narayanganj, was shot dead by the police as the party brought out a procession marking its founding anniversary.
BNP Organising Secretary Abdus Salam Azad, Munshiganj BNP General Secretary Kamruzzaman Ratan Jubo Dal President Sultan Salahuddin Tuku and general secretary Abdul Monayem Munna, among others, were present at the event.
