A court in Dhaka has granted a two-day remand to interrogate BNP leader Mizanur Rahman, who was arrested on charges of conspiring to make the Gazipur city polls controversial.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Mazharul Islam issued an order on Wednesday allowing the police to interrogate Mizan in their custody.
Earlier, detectives arrested Mizan, a retired army officer, from his home at Gulshan in Dhaka on early hours of Tuesday after two audio clips of his phone conversations spread on the internet.
According to bdnews24.com, four others for the same allegation were also arrested in Ashulia area on Tuesday, police said.
The court also remanded Md Shafiqul Islam, 43, Md Dinnat, 26, and Md Asad Ali, 22.
Md Zunaid Hossain Joy, 16, was sent to Tongi Juvenile Correction Centre.
