BNP-led coalition has once again chose Md Tabith Awal to vie for the mayoral position in the scheduled by-election to Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC).
Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir announced the decision before the journalists late on Monday, after the party’s nomination board led by Chairperson Khaleda Zia interviewed the aspirants.
Election Commission (EC) has set February 26 for the voting after the post fell vacant with mayor Annisul Huq’s death.
Bdnews24 said Annisul, who was backed by ruling party Awami League, defeated Tabith, who was backed by BNP in the 2015 polls.
