A Dhaka court on Tuesday deferred the date of hearing on charge-framing in Barapukuria coal mine graft case to May 2 as the prison authorities failed to produce prime accused Khaleda Zia before the court.
Dhaka Special Judge Court-2 set the new date.
Earlier on March 13, the court adjourned the hearing of the case as Khaleda had expressed her unwillingness to appear before it.
The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) started the graft case against Khaleda Zia and 15 others with Shahbagh police station on February 26, 2008, BSS reports.
The case in brief is that the accused caused a loss of Tk 1.59 billion to the state exchequer by awarding a contract for operation of the coalmine to a Chinese company through abuse of power.
Six of the accused have already died.
