The annual election of Bogura and Jashore district bar associations were held on Friday.
In Bogura, Md Golam Faruk was elected president of the District Bar Association from Bangabandhu Awami Ainjibi Parishad while Md Rafiqul Islam was elected general secretary from BNP-backed panel Jatiyatabadi Ainjibi Oikya Parishad.
AL-backed panel won eight posts while the BNP-backed panel grabbed five posts in the new body that will start its organisational activities from January 1, next year.
Returning Officer Advocate Binoy Kumar Ghosh declared the result at 10:00pm, reports UNB.
In Jashore, M Idris Ali was elected president of the District Bar Association from AL-backed panel while MA Gafur was elected general secretary from the BNP-backed panel.
Altogether, 26 candidates fought for 13 posts in the election where Ismat Hasar conducted the election as the commissioner.
