Awami League has asked its all district and city units to send resolutions of grassroots to center in phases for upcoming union parishad (UP) elections.
The election commission has decided to hold elections to 323 UPs in 63 upazilas under 20 districts in the first phase on April 11 next while in the same way polls to around 4,500 UPs across the country will be held in phases, reports BSS.
For nominating party candidates for chairman post in the UP election, there is necessity of resolution of grassroots as per constitutional provisions of Awami League.
For the party nomination for chairman post, concerned union units of AL will have to hold extended meeting to create a panel of candidates through discussions.
Then the panels, having joint signatures of concerned district, upazila and union units of AL’s presidents and general secretaries, will have to be sent to AL president’s Dhanmondi political office for getting recommendations within specific time in line with EC’s schedule.
