Ruling Awami League has expressed no-confidence in returning officer of Khulna City Corporation (KCC).

The party alleged that activity and behaviour of the returning officer was biased towards a particular party, reports UNB.

A delegation of the ruling party made the allegation during a meeting with Chief Election Commissioner KM Nurul Huda at Nirbachon Bhaban on Wednesday.

While talking to the reporters after concluding a meeting with, the co-chairman

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's Political Advisor H T Imam led the delegation during the meeting.

H T Imam, also head of the AL's election subcommittee, said "His (KCC returning officer) past is very dark, he had been cadre of a political party which is evident in his behaviour and activities."

"In Khulna City Corporation, level playing field was not established yet, our leaders can't take part in election campaign while other parties are easily participating in the electoral campaigns", he alleged.

He also demanded proper steps of EC through amendment of the law to resolve the matter.

The returning officer of KCC is Yunus Ali.

In the KCC election scheduled to be held on May 15 a total of five mayor candidates, 148 general councillor and 38 reserved-seat female councillor candidates are competing.
