Joy tells countrymen to rely on AL

Prime Minister's ICT Adviser Sajeeb Wazed Joy Monday urged people to have faith in the ruling party in restoring democracy.

"Awami League reestablished democracy in the country overcoming all sorts of conspiracies from home and abroad...So don't lose confidence in own country," he said.

Joy said it while addressing a discussion at a hotel in Dhaka, reports BSS.

Shuchinta Foundation organised the discussion titled 'Rajnitite Satya-Mitya: Padma Setur Abhiggyata'.

Professor Emeritus of Bangla Department of Dhaka University Dr Anisuzzaman, Economist Dr Farash Uddin and Editor of the daily Kaler Kantho and eminent writer Imdadul Haque Milon addressed the discussion while Shuchinta Foundation Chairman Professor A Arafat gave welcome address.

Joy said a Canadian Court verdict proved that there was no corruption over the construction of the Padma Bridge. "Padma Bridge is now visible defying all conspiracies," he added.

A group of NGOs always criticises Bangladesh, otherwise, they won't get fund from foreigners, he said.

"The so-called civil society never praised Bangladesh... Dr Muhammad Yunus didn't make any good comments on any success of Bangladesh," Joy said.

"They think money will take them to power. But they don't know none can go to power without the love of common people," Joy said.

"We and our Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina are not slaves to anyone...We can distinguish between truth and lies and we are now self-confident," he said.

The World Bank raised the allegation of corruption on Padma Bridge, even before paying a single penny in the project, he said, adding the investigation is now underway against the officer of the World Bank who investigated the corruption at that time.

Joy, son of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, said the perpetrators of 1975 are now active again and they are busy with many conspiracies against Bangladesh.

The ICT Advisor said, "Awami League has the capacity as well as merit and as per our feasibility study we got the confidence that we can construct Padma Bridge with our own fund and it would not hamper our economy."
