German ambassador to Bangladesh Achim Tröster said Germany alongside other EU countries is concerned over the recent political violence in Bangladesh.
Stressing political stability in Bangladesh, he said a conducive business environment is a must for attracting foreign investment and free and fair election is crucial to ensure stable democracy.
“We are convinced that free and fair election is a contributing factor to stability,” he said while addressing the launching of the German Businesses Council in the capital on Thursday.
Performing democracy is linked to free and fair polls and every person has the right to cast his vote in a free and fair manner to choose a government, he added.
“Nobody should consider political opposition as enemies.”
Earlier, Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen urged foreign diplomats to refrain from commenting on the domestic affairs of Bangladesh.
The minister also urged the media not to ask foreign envoys questions on domestic affairs.
