A case has been filed against some 150 leaders and activists of BNP and its associate bodies on charge of attacking police on the court premises.
Police filed the case with Kotwali Police Station, said its officer-in-charge Mohammad Mohsin.
According to UNB news agency, City BNP president Dr Shahdat Hossain was made the prime accused in the case.
The OC said BNP men swooped on police on the court premises after a court cancelled the bail of party leader Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury. “They also manhandled me,” he said.
Contacted, Shahdat Hossain there was no incident of attack on police. “Being angered at the cancellation of the bail, BNP leaders and activists and lawyers had shoving with policemen,” he said.
Earlier in the day, a court here sent BNP standing committee member Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury to jail rejecting his bail petition in a case filed under the ICT Act.
