Police file case over Chawkbazar fire

A case was filed in connection with the deadly fire at Chawkbazar area in Old Dhaka that left 67 people dead.

Additional deputy commissioner Md Kamal Hossain said the case was filed with Chawkbazar police station against unidentified people on Thursday night, reports UNB.

Sub-inspector (SI) Delwar Hossain of Chawkbazar police station filed the case against unidentified traders on charges of causing the death through negligence, according to news agencies.

At least 67 people were killed and around 41 others injured in a devastating fire that broke out at a chemical warehouse and raged through four other adjacent buildings in the area on Wednesday night.

Duty officer at the Fire Service Central Control Room Rasel Shikder said that the firefighters recovered 67 bodies from the spot.
