Police file case over attack on DUCSU VP Nur

Police have lodged a case against 43 people, including Muktijuddho Moncho leaders Al Mamun and Yeasir Arafat Turjo, over the latest attack on the Dhaka University Central Students' Union (DUCSU) vice president (VP) Nurul Haque Nur.

Eight of the accused were named while the rest were unidentified in the case, which Rais Uddin, a sub-inspector of Shahbagh Police Station, filed around 12:45am on Tuesday, according to local media reports.

Detective police on Monday detained Mamun, general secretary of the Moncho's central unit, and Turjo, general secretary of its Dhaka University (DU) unit, from Shahbagh in the city.

Earlier, Mamun served the Bangladesh Chhatra League as its central deputy liberation affairs secretary, while Turjo is the current organising secretary of the pro-AL student body's DU unit.

Nur and 27 of his supporters were injured as activists of Muktijuddho Moncho attacked them at the DUCSU VP's room on Monday.

This was the second attack on Nur in a week, and the ninth since he was elected DUVSU VP in March this year.
