Police have detained five people on charges of raping a woman in Tangail town.
The law enforcers detained the suspects from New Bus Terminal area, Sadar Police Station OC Sayedur Rahman said on Saturday, reports bdnews24.com.
He did not give details of the detainees.
Citing a statement of the woman’s husband, the OC said three people locked the man in a room of a house in the town and raped his wife in a nearby place on Friday night.
They beat up the man and chased him away before raping the woman again, the husband alleged.
Police rescued the woman when her husband informed the law enforcers about the incident.
The suspects were arrested later, the OC said.
The woman was admitted to Tangail General Hospital for medical tests, he added.
