The law-enforcers have detained the wife and parents-in-law of New York explosion suspect Akayed Ullah from Jigatala area in Dhaka.
Police held them on Tuesday for interrogation about the Bangladeshi suspect in Monday's pipe bomb explosion beneath New York's Times Square.
A top police official wishing anonymity said a Dhaka Metropolitan Police team of Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime unit picked them up from their residence in the afternoon.
According to UNB, a joint team of the police from Chittagong Metropolitan Police and Sandwip Police Station earlier visited Akayed Ullah's village at Musapur Union in Sandwip upazila and talked to his relatives.

Sohel Mahmud, a Bangladesh citizen from Sandwip and now in New York, said Akayed Ullah has a nickname - 'Shapu'-- and he is not well known in the big Sandwip community in the USA.
He said Shapu lived in Bangladesh until he was 20 years old and he has two sisters and one elder brother.
