Police have detained at least 65 people allegedly involved in the Wednesday clash between police and BNP men at latter’s central office at Naya Paltan in Dhaka.
Police filed three cases with the Paltan police station in this regard implicating opposition leader Mirza Abbas as one of the accused in the cases, said police sources on Thursday.
The law enforcers filed the cases on charges of vandalism, arson attack and obstructing police from discharging their duties.
On duty official of Paltan police station confirmed the matter to the FE today, but he could not assertain the exact number of the arrestees.
On Wednesday, a clash erupted shortly after police members tried to push opposition Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) men from the street before the BNP party office to clear the road for traffic movement.
Around 50 people including police officials injured at the clash. Police and opposition BNP blamed each other for inciting the clash.
