Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Sunday urged the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to investment in the Special Economic Zones (SEZs) of Bangladesh.
She made the call when newly appointed UAE ambassador Saed Mohammed AL Mheiri met her at her office in the city.
The Prime Minister welcomed the new envoy to Bangladesh and assured him of giving all-out support in discharging his duties, reports UNB.
Sheikh Hasina recalled Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's visit to the UAE in 1974 and his personal friendship with UAE's Father of the Nation Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan saying the visit had laid the foundation of Bangladesh-UAE relations.
The envoy informed the Prime Minister that major business groups of the UAE are keen to invest in Bangladesh.
The new envoy said his country wants to continue cooperation with Bangladesh in various sectors, and he will work for promoting the relations between the two countries to take that to a new height.
Principal Secretary Md Nojibur Rahman and PM's Military Secretary Major General Mia Mohammad Zainul Abedin were present.
