Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina gave financial assistance for the treatment of two officers of Bangladesh Army.
"The prime minister gave donation of Tk 5 million for the treatment of Major Jadid from her Relief and Welfare Fund," PM's Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim told reporters on Wednesday.
He said Major Jadid's wife Zakiatuzzohra received a cheque for the amount from the prime minister at her office this noon.
Major Jadid was seriously injured in an IED (improvised explosive device) blast in Mali on September 24 while discharging his duty as a United Nations peacekeeper.
He is now undergoing treatment at a hospital in Singapore, the press secretary said.
Sheikh Hasina also handed over a cheque for Tk 3 million to Lieutenant Colonel Shaheen Ahmed who has been suffering from liver cirrhosis, as per BSS report.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Industries today donated one day's salary of their officials and employees to the Prime Minister's Relief and Welfare Fund.
"Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu handed over a cheque for the donation to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at her office here," the press secretary said.
